Technology allows for the imagination of new services in sustainable transportation.

The Autolib’ project is the first  of its kind. AVIS, the RATP, the SNCF and Vinci Park have combined their expertise to develop and execute this project. faberNovel acted as an expert on innovation and transportation to ensure the coordination of contributing players and the overall coherence of the project.

For two years, faberNovel took part in this project in two different dimensions.

First, faberNovel generated ideas and designed the project, from the user experience to the business model. Second, faberNovel managed the project from team coordination to decision-making about different features. We then built the proposal bid and a working prototype.

faberNovel’s work

The first year, faberNovel provided strategic support to help define the service.

To do so, faberNovel brainstormed about what the mobile app for Autolib’ should look like. We designed the customer experience and built an experiment to test our assumptions based on existing car sharing systems. faberNovel also designed the functional components of the service (information systems) using a rigorous methodology.

The second year, we designed the business model of the service to respond to the request for proposal.
Our mission included designing the user experience and defining the technical needs of the project with our partners from Daimler and Vinci. We built the user interface, and refined our prototype consisting of a vehicle and charging station. faberNovel worked closely with 4City, the team responsible for the project in the consortium, to complete the project on time.

Designing innovative services in complex environments.

Taking into account technical constraints, faberNovel provided a user-centered approach to the project and solved a complex problem by giving users a simple solution.

One of our main roles was to ease communication between different players. We gave consistency to the whole project: charging facilities, optimization, mobile apps, artificial intelligence, etc.
