Touch screens
enable brand new urban experiences.
JCDecaux, second global leader in outdoors communication, wanted to set up a touch interface in bus shelters. This screen would provide city dwellers with new urban experiences.
The display had to deal with several constraints: aesthetics, functionality, accessibility, especially for people with disabilities.
faberNovel’s work
faberNovel was in charge of the design and production of this one of a kind screen. faberNovel worked with the marketing department of JCDecaux, with the RATP, the Mayor of Paris, Yellow Pages and Gallimard to define the scope of the content. We built the interface based on the robust Open Source framework Libnui.
The screen built by faberNovel displays cultural and historical, location-based and practical information for passengers. It is permanently connected to the Internet, making it possible to push real time traffic data from RATP, next bus times, and updated content.
Results
With this interface, JCDecaux has a new platform for advertisements and RATP has a new platform to inform passengers.
The flexibility and dynamism of this screen
allow numerous improvements for new services and features useful for
travelers.
