It is thus of utmost importance that heavy decision-making process be replaced by short cycles.

faberNovel has designed and applied a strategic experimentation method that is especially appropriate for prototype launching. It formalizes the experimenting process to bring out a deep and thorough understanding of the tested innovations as well as an accurate know how of the adequate implementation process.
Beforehand, the project team will have defined indicators of success and integrated them in the roadmap. As the project evolves, those indicators will show in real time the necessary adjustments, if any. It is referred to as an iterative process: “Theory - Observation – Revision”. Such acquired knowledge contributes to reducing investment costs, efficiently countering competitors, and turning the innovation into a profitable venture as soon as it is implemented on the market.

It is a comprehensive tool which purpose is to determine, before experimenting, the extent to which a technological innovation is likely to be accepted by its targeted users.
CAUTIC® method: Assisted Design based on usage for Information technologies and Change. faberNovel acquired a license on that method which was developed by the CNRS (French National Center for Scientific Research). It tests the extent to which a user may adhere to an innovation. The method may intervene at the early stage of the innovation when it is defined, or for an adequate repositioning once the innovation is launched.
It is essentially a qualitative method that uses structured observation techniques and is based on two fundamental tools. The first one is defining identity profiles with regards to innovation in general: Passionate, Pragmatic about change, Pragmatic about continuity, Objector. The second tool is an interview guide ordered according to 19 criteria.
All potential users assess an innovation on the basis of their own prior experiences and of the context in which they evolve. CAUTIC® criteria allow to determine what factors influence the users when considering an innovation:
CAUTIC® draws a list and analyses these 4 levels of conditioning with regards to the user’s identity profile.
he study’s results show what people think of a given innovation and indicate whether it should be validated or repositioned in terms of practicality.
The advantage of the CAUTIC® method is that it gives out significant results out of relatively restricted samples. All previous tests show that results obtained from respective samples of 12-15 people or 100 people are extremely close.
