Strategic Experiments

Experimenting strategies is the core business of faberNovel XP. Imagining new concepts for products and services, working out experimental protocols, developing, testing and validating prototypes is what they do.

faberNovel Prototype assists contracting authorities (in expressing their needs) or acts as project manager (up to the implementation phase).

Go to Prototype

Development through innovation

Deconstructing/Reconstructing of value chains, disintermediation, emerging of new economic models or racing for setting standards; these are some significant examples of the changes companies need to grasp and anticipate in order to turn them to their advantage. From identifying opportunities to designing new products or innovating services, faberNovel assists its clients every step of the way, from conceiving to implementing their development strategy.

IDENTITY

Who are we?

Created in 2003, the faberNovel company is dedicated to innovation and its implementation.

Our model is delegated innovation. Our clients decide to call on us to handle any aspect of an innovation-linked project. We bring together concepts, talents, technologies and the appropriate market to allow our clients, start-ups and industrial groups alike to:

  • create prototypes
  • define and lead for successful growth strategies

faberNovel is based in Paris and has been settled in San Francisco as of 2007.

In 2004, faberNovel was awarded the status of Young Innovating Company. We offer our professional expertise and specific innovation know how: From idea to concept, to prototype, and to actual implementation in a specific market.

The unique combination of:

  • a team of experts in strategy, technology, marketing and design, passionate about the conception and carrying out of innovative projects,
  • a daily operative assistance to our clients and companies within the faberNovel Federation,
  • an action-oriented involvement in European and American entrepreneurial ecosystems

enables faberNovel to immediately mobilize all relevant and necessary resources to an innovation project and its actual implementation, for each step of the venture.

Our values

More than an organization, faberNovel is a movement that rallies experts and companies around a common set of values:

Innovation

Innovating is daring challenging each and every one of the elements constituting an existing solution with the intent of improving its efficiency, pertinence, relevance, usefulness and success. We create disruptive mechanisms on a daily basis. Inventing entirely new possibilities is our motivation. We are not interested in copy; We proudly favor difference.

Openness

Being open is accepting all contribution, whatever the source. We believe it is the essence of pluridisciplinarity and foundation of a team. It means remaining unbiased and valuing difference. We firmly believe that accepting is as fulfilling as receiving and that any innovative project finds its solution in the diversity of opinions, debates and mechanisms.

Premium

Quality and strength create value, so does a sense of respect for positive contribution services. We don’t believe in “low cost” as a viable model for developing worth. We are convinced that clients will always be willing to grant their trust and loyalty to that which is beautiful, solid, simple and effective.

Audacity

Our solutions, our organization and our operating methods are audacious. We take pride in representing a movement, not your standard company. We value determination, originality, entrepreneurship, and the desire to surpass one’s self. We place leadership above hierarchy. We dare less obvious combinations of technologies, ideas and markets, unprejudiced.

Accountability

We tell you the plan and we keep to our word. We handle all projects as if they were our own. We understand that innovation is fascinating, yet difficult and requiring much energy and involvement, which is why we set the highest degree of professional rigor and expertise to all our projects. In particular, we always verify that our projects are consistent with the long-term interests of our clients and partners.

Nimbleness

Improvising, adapting to a new order, looking with insight for the best solutions to achieve a set of predetermined objectives; these are the qualities required to evolve in a complex and evolving world. Our methods and tools are inspired by this permanent quest of adaptability and we believe assisting innovating start-ups is the best way for our teams to remain alert and flexible.

Cool

Because fear never prevented from danger, we consider that serenity offers the optimal decision-making. Keeping a clear mind avoids confusion. But most of all, we are cool because we’re passionate about making a difference and we love our jobs.

Team

We know our value is the reflection of the individuals in our team, which is why we dedicate considerable care and constant interest in our recruits and their well being.

Stéphane Distinguin

Founder and CEO
11 years of experience as a consultant for innovative and creative companies
Verbatim:
“faberNovel is a project that may become yours. We are constantly looking for new challenges and new partners to achieve successful and rewarding projects for all parties involved.”
Stéphane Distinguin

Stéphane Distinguin graduated from ESCP-EAP and joined Deloitte & Touche consultancy firm in 1997, first in London with the High Technology group and then in Paris. In 1999, he participated in the creation of Up&Up, an “early stage” investment funds, and contributed to the development of startups dedicated to software publishing and clean technology.

In 2003, Stéphane created faberNovel, a true innovation platform. In just 4 years and without even using the invested capital, faberNovel recruited some thirty colleagues and built its reputation on solid references. The company develops innovative experiments and offers its expertise in diversification and development strategy through innovation to major companies (RATP, SFR, L’Oréal, Gaz de France, La Lyonnaise des Eaux…).

faberNovel’s process starts with an internal experimenting of ideas or projects that explore new technology, behaviors and emerging methods, which may then lead to testing them on the field; The most promising projects may even yield dedicated structures. Such an “excubation” model enabled faberNovel to achieve diversification through the creation and development of companies such as digitick, af83, Chugulu Games, C4M Prod, DoYouMultimedia, Persistant Labs, SpinMedias, eXoPlatform, Tarpipe, etc.

Moreover, Stéphane Distinguin became CEO of Silicon Sentier in 2004. This entity represents close to a hundred Parisian companies that are dedicated to information technology and communication. He is also administrator of Cap Digital, the cluster for digital content; of Comité Richelieu, the French association for innovating SMEs and of Isoc France, the Internet Society French chapter.
